Default Any Bowfishers here??

don't know if this is the right place to post it..


Anybody Bow fish here?? I've got a spot right now that is JAMMED up with garfish...put it to you like this, i eased by boat to get my bait off a cypress knee, they was hitting the bottoms/sides of my boat. They are feeding on lil baby minnows. 100's of them, no lie! If any of yall are on the calcasieu/west fork bowfishing let me know.. i have one question though....Is there a limit on gar fish for bowfishing??

No limit.

What size are they? They need to be 2+ feet long to have enough size to hit them.

There are some BIG [4+ feet] ones around the Barrier.

Our friends own that big red and white house boat just south of the barrier. They have a lot of garfish hanging around their rocks at the edge of the water. You can walk along their rocks and pick them off. Water Sat. was pretty clear. You could see all of their markings on the sides of them.

1 1/2-2 ft majority, some bigger ones mixed in..so i would be alright if i went and shot at a few?



i've shot a few by my house (in the canal) that was 1 1/2 or so, sit on the culverts and once they swim under you stick em....

Not sure if you need to have the special "bow fishing" arrow tips.

They make special arrows for Bow fishing.......special tips and arrows with place to attach string. They make special reels to attach to your bow to reel them in.

Bet you can find something on You-tube.

yes, they make special arrows/tips i got one, bout 3 ft long fiberglass arrow!


might try in the morning when they are feeding there..practice tonight in the cut at my house..thanks for the help
