Default west cove/Joes cove report from this weekend

Got on some hammers in Joes cove on Saturday. Bite was slow but trout and reds were big. Biggest went 3 1/2#.

West cove on Saturday was just plain stupid. Huge trout and reds mixed together jnder birds all over north of the island pretty much all day. As the day wore on the trout got bigger. We were catching and releasing 18" trout before heading back to the camp arount 4:00.
Sunday the trout were smaller and the white trout were thick but we still managed 18 specs, kept 7 whites and three reds and had to leave around 10:00 to head back and clean fish from today and previous day. Man I loved being out there this weekend. Couldnt ask for a better weekend out on Big Lake.

Thanks fellas. As most know I'm an East side fisherman primarily, lake Pontchartrain but I love the chance to get over here from time to time. Nothing that workes in Lake P. Works on Big Lake. I love the challenge and sometimes am rewarded with good catches.

Sweet, What kind of bait worked best?
I'm pretty hooked up with hunting right now, ducks in the morning and doves in the afternoon but I need to take a break and do some fishing.

Tightlined Clear and gold little Johns and learl Berkley Gulps under popping corks. Caught most on the Gulps.
