Default Lacassine Refuge full of Mexican.............. Squealers.

Went out on a lottery hunt i go because someone cancelled last minute. Me and one of my coworker and my dog Dixie got into the blind (which are very nice) about 5:30... TREE DUCKS by literally the thousands... very little teal saw one flock of about 30 10 mins before shooting time and that was it... and a few pintails here and there... Ended up with 11 tree ducks and 1 Pintail... Not a bad way to start off the season. I think i posted the pictures right.... not sure... It was Dixies first actual hunt... and im pretty satisfied with her..

I hunted gators in the Lacassine Pool for 6 years. It was full of Squealers for gator season.
That was in the early to mid 90's. I think they were nesting there. Every day we saw hundreds.

Cooked a pot of 8 tree ducks last night. Best ducks I have ever eaten hands down.

She did pretty good. the crippled ducks hissing and flapping at her freaked her out a little and the being down in the pit blind with the guns made her kinda nervous... over all great for her first hunt

At our lease in Kaplan during teal season, I would always see a group of 10-15 pass the same route every morning. However, I have not seen any as of SAT. I have never killed one but I have heard they are good eating.

Das right, der is not a better eating duck out there. Not teal, not wood ducks. Even their gizzards are pink instead of dark red. Just awesome eating birds.

Yeh when we were eating them Saturday night, we were talkin about how they didn't even taste like a duck. More like a quail or something. And those big ole tender legs...Poo Yie dats good! We shot 8 more tree ducks yesterday and dropped 7-8 this morning but only found 4. Thank god for the tree ducks or we wouldnt be killing much. Killed 28 Saturday b/w 6 hunters in 2 holes, 14 Sunday b/w 5 hunters in 2 spots, and 6 today b/w 3 hunters in one hole. So out of 48 ducks in 3 days, 22 were tree ducks. Our problem is we dont have many teal. And thats usually what 80-90% of your bag consists of.

We didn't see any tree ducks on Saturday. I'd love to get some, I'll trade you some teal for some. LOL
