Default Freshwater Trout Smash

Left out of Freshwater City early Thursday morning to go scout for the Cajun Conch fishing tourney in Pecan Island. Water was great all over and the trout were ready to eat. Caught our limit of 2-5 lb trout by 8:30. Even when the bite was hot they would only eat live bait. Ended up giving our spot and about 200 live baits to a group who watched us all morning.

On Friday we had three boats. We were greeted with heavy seas and high winds early, but the trout didn't mind one bit. Pulled up to the spot and were done by 8:35. The trout were smaller 1-3.5 lbs, but they were on fire.

I don't know how the weather forecast was so off on Friday. There was not a cloud it the sky and it was supposed to be 1 foot. We had a period when the waves were at least 3 and some bigger. My buddy has a big catamaran we use when it's calling for bigger seas but we decided to use his bay boat with the calm forecast. Hard to drink beer in that crap , but still managed a few.

We were out there Thursday too, until the wind blew us off. We did fine on plastics, but not as good as y'all. What type of bait do y'all do best on? Thanks for the report

I was fishing right next to you on Friday. Me and my crew kept wondering how ya'll made it to the spot so early in those bay boats when it was a legit 3-5 footers, with a few 6's mixed in. Nice trip...ya'll definitely had the market cornered that day.

Dude, I didn't mind the 2 Live Crew at all! We ended up with about 25...kept posting up on both sides of ya'll but couldn't land on them. Lost my anchor towards the end of the day...shackle snapped as I was picking it up.

Went back out on Sunday and did well. Caught 2 limits in about an hour and a half!
