I heard quite a few opening weekend last year as well. Where I hunt which im sure is similar to where u hunt, there are lots of ridges. It's hard to get em off their ridge or get close.

As we speak, I am waiting for FedEx to drop off my birthday present from my wife! I had a 12 year old Browning Gold 3.5" shotgun that has been used from shooting bird, to breaking brush. It was even used as a crutch when I had a ankle injury on a hunt years ago. This gun was used and abused!

She got me a camo dip on the gun so I am hoping it turned out good. The old black synthetic on it looked like it had been drug behind a truck on a chain, and the bluing was plum worn off of the metal in lots of places! I am pumped since it is my turkey killing machine!!!

1st of you have a good wife!
I have a couple of those like that, look like they've been drug down 9 miles of bad
gravel road. Wouldn't trade anything in the world for em! One is a Winchester model 100 in 308 it looks baaaad, a deer killin machine though!

I live about 5 miles from Ben's Creek. I got banned from there a few years ago! I used to go out there a couple of weeks before the season opened with my vid camera and call the feathers off them gobblers. They wouldn't open their mouth when the season opened.

The water is just a little high.

The water level has stayed about the same for the last couple of months.

I got a spot that was covered with birds year before last when the water was low off Iron Gate Rd. If the water is low enough to get back there, they should be in there.
