New Layout Blind

Well what do you guys think, have you used one in the past? I can't believe we have to wait until September for Teal season.

It seems nice, blocks the wind and is comfortable. I bought 4 (2 adult and 2 youth).

Those look nice. Never really hunted where one would be useful but they work well from what I hear. September is a long way off...:mad:

i love mine. got an GHG ground force and 2 Cabelas layouts. first thing to do is make a bucket of mud and rub the entire thing down with it. itll take the glare off them.

Good idea. Do you completely break it down after every use and set it back up before the sun comes up out in the field and do you use it in the marsh?

I love hunting geese out of them. You get up close and personal. You just brush them up when you get there and put them in the decoy spread. That's what worked for us.

I wouldn't use a layout blind during teal season. Unless your goose hunting you will probably not use it. It's good if your getting mallards and pintails and other ducks you can work good and have an idea where they will be when you shoot. If your hunting ducks in a rice field, usually you have a mixed bag with a good bit of teal and spoons. Not something you wanna hunt out of a layout for

Me and my pudnahs got some final approaches to goose hunt with. I love em and they are so comfortable when da geese ain't flying u can nap! Beware though, they are tough to get used to shooting out of. May wanna practice shooting out of one. And also remember that you need to get the birds in tight in a layout cuz when you shoot they are flaring already. I leave mine put together. But like someone already said. Get some mud and get that glare off and the grass with the grass you will be hiding in.

the GHG and the cabelas blind set up in about 30 seconds. so i do bring them in and out every day. We use them in our marsh in grand chenier but if you gonna use them in the marsh i would suggest making a mudboard. since mine arent waterproof thats what i did. I just cut a piece of 1/2 inch plywood and screwed a 4x6 to it. it will keep your back out of the water but you will still have to wear waders in the blind. here are some pics of the mud boards and one of my cabelas blinds.

Wouldnt hunt teal in it. You'll never see them comin they will be crappin on you all day.

I got one this year from Rogers for about 90 dollars and love it. Have killed geese on every hunt so far this season using it. Really like being portable and can even carry decoys in it. I will be hunting more geese next year with it.

I asked Matthew this morning if he was ready to catch some trout this spring/summer he said "no I really want to go shoot some more ducks". He is worse than me.

I would prefer a nice pit blind as well. I do not have that option at some of the places that I have been hunting. I can see my kids taking a nap in the youth ones I bought.

Without a doubt, spending WAY to much money. Other than my camp and boat, I never spent this kind of cash on trout.
