If you decide to buy the F150 make sure you get at least a 3.55 rear end... My choice would be 3.73 for towing. I would be willing to bet most guys don't even know what rear end they have in the trucks they have and that's the reason most feel like their trucks are so sluggish.

Is anyone else disappointed int the tundra towing ability? I got a 5.7 4.1 rear end dual exhaust and cai. ~400 hp. Acts like a puss with a boat behind it.

X2

I have a 2006 F 150 2wd extended cab with the 5.4l, 3.73 rear, 265/75 highway tires, edge programmer and volant cold air intake. (Not heavily tuned at all) no trailer = solid 18 mpg at 70-75mph on I-49, 16 in town. 10 mpg pulling up to 18' boat at 65mph. Big camper = 5-6 mpg at 50-55.

Think of it this way, transmission, torque and gearing is everything in the towing world. Not HP.

I got heavy foot. But I'm telling you this thing can't find gears, pulls ridiculous rpms, feels like I'm about to tear something up. Without the boat it's a freakin rocket ship and I love it.

2013 ford 4dr w/ARE camper shell 5.0 not a ecoboost motor. 19 +mpg on the highway and pulling a 21' triton TX21 gets 12.5-13 mpg. I have not broke 20 mpg as some say they have. Has plenty of power to pass. The 5.0 is a 4 valve motor and almost as much HP as the v-6 twin turbo that may kick in and run or not kick in and get you in trouble. I have heard to many stories of the twin turbo. I have a HHR SS with turbo and had problems with it nit kicking in the other day. Stepped on the gas a few weeks a go and broke the tires at 50 mph on the highway and 30 lbs of boost. Next time I hit the gas no boost and I had a 100 hp and it putted away. Just got the HHR out of shop $2500 replaced turbo and they just replaced the turbo and a solenoid. 55,000 miles ---I would buy another 5.0 in a heartbeat. Very satisfied.

I'm callin the ford 5.0 out. The 5.4 z pulls slightly worse than the 5.7 tundra.

Is the 5.4 reliable/bulletproof? Thinking of getting Expedition EL. Not worried about 0 to 60... just reliability.

I know they got those delete/reprogram kits for diesel 3/4 tons. Never driven or pulled with one but I've heard good things about them

I know your wrong. Lol I have 13 ford he has 14 GM. My backseat has a solid 6" on his probably more. We are always swapping tackle from one to the other and he's always amazed how much bigger my backseat is.

I have eco boost 4 X4 and it tows a 14500 pound fifth wheel. Ive pulled 10000 pound bobcat. 28ft Scout loaded. And it does have air bags. Towing camper it gets 7-7.5 mpg. Towing my bay boat it gets 12. Its strong point is its towing. Have 40000 miles trouble free. Friend has one with 112000 miles no prob. So far I like my first ford. I have tested it pretty hard so far. If I didnt have my camper I would only have a Tacoma. My favorite truck has been a tacoma.

How much of that ,if any,is on the interstate between 70-80 mph? Does ever search for gears?
