LUS rain barrel

Did anyone else wait in line to get one.

Sort of like opening day for shrimp season.

Mom got one. I wish it came with a stand to lift it high up for water pressure.

Looks like I'm a use 6 cinder blocks .i hope the neighbors don't mind a big barrel in the front yard.

We who got um per ordered and went today finally to get them
We all went at the same time.
Car line was 5-6 blocks long.

It's in front yard with all the other unsightl6 things

And the line looked like the line up of people and boats on opening day for shrimp.

I want to know who else got a barrel.


Um if I think of more I will post but that about explains it.

These catch rain water for a more efficient way of wetting gardens and such.

Good idea to have and promote IMO. If I get one it will be in the back yard 😬

The barrel is needed more right now in the front. The sun has bleached the iron plants and is killing the othe bed plants. Any extra water to help during drought the better. No more shade and ground up stumps need water too befor leveling and seeding and during seeding.

Yep front needs it more. Sorry. That's just how it is and it is not installed permanent now is it. It can be moved can't it. Why I wonder would people be looking at it as an eye sore ..l..l.l..l.l.

It's going to be used as intended .
It will help.
It's not something that would lower your property values like a tree cut in half for power lines . A big reason we cut the trees down as they would have looked like crap after power co. Finished and one had a bad fungus rot and needed to come down.


I think the one hour wait for the thing was reasonable and the cost too. Free water 55gal at a time.........I hope.

I reseeded my lawn last year. Killed everything, bagged the dead stuff after power raking. That was a job! It's still not filled in, but is doing better than it was before all that. Keeping the soil moist is a chore, but the grass is creeping and creeping

Yeah I recently put in a new driveway and spread 2 loads of dirt across my yard. What a mess. I have huge live oaks and the roots where giving my lawn mowers heck. I'm just now starting to get grass to grow. What a pain in the behind. I had St. Augustine grass but reseeded with Brasscias I think its called. Not to sure that was a good idea. We will have to see. I'm used to St. Augustine. This stuff..... I guess I'll have to get used to it.

post a pic of the barrel.. id like to see! pretty neat that the town would give something away that is truly beneficial to the residents without any monetary outcome for them.

Cenetipede seeds?

About a three weeks ago, I core aerated my yardwith a manual two prong aerator, overseeded with centipede seeds, then topdressed with topsoil. I was sore for days.

You are right, keeping the seeds moist is a pain. How long did you water them daily for?

Yes sir. I kept them watered for over a week.

I find if you get a big bulk bag of rye grass seed it sprouts quickly to start a root base that holds water and the regular grass fills in quicker to kill it off.

its not something you can do in the middle of summer but any other time I find it shortens in half the time grass takes to fill in the blank spots.

when I did my yard which was 90% bare after re-landscaping, I covered with rye grass seed and then 2 weeks after that sprouted I went over it and seeded the regular grass and I had grass covering everything and the rye grass dies off as the regular grass covers it.

I find using the cheap rye grass seed to prep the dead spots with a root base first is the best solution short of re-sodding it

Correct mine on dem center blocks.4 might do 6 for more pressure on soaker hose.
