Default Removable Seat

So I have this clunky bell pedestal mounted seat in the back of my 16' aluminum boat. I'd like to be able to take it out and put it back with ease for the extra space -- not to mention it gets in the way of getting to the batteries, etc...

Looking at pin and wedge pedestals, it looks like the wedge is sturdier than the pin. The problem is that I can't seem to find a wedge that will mount flush to the wood.

The overall plan would be that I'd raise the floor with new plywood, then attach the new mount to that.

Any ideas, or by doing this at all am I simply creating a suicide seat for a passenger?
