Default Water Steady Falling in Henderson

After a long summer of high water, it's finally on its way down. Got a few good reports on Bass. It should start getting good. Them fish been hiding in the woods and shade long enough.

Saw lot's of dead fish from Whiskey Bay exit heading east for a couple miles. None on the east end but water looked really bad. The place I had been doing well in had dead water this morning and no fish. Moved to another area and caught 4 in the rain. When the water drops another couple feet it will be very bad in most of the Basin.

Why does black water cause a fish kill?

Had a coworker that went to the spillway just to look around Sat. Black water everywhere. He said shell canals he could see a sacalait jig down 3 feet.
Rode to swing chute and a few other places. said he didn't see any bait hitting the top or any gar.

Went to the basin near Bayou Benoit last Sunday. Some places black water. Other places OK. No real fish to speak of.

The water looks good on this, the West end of the Basin in Henderson. Hopefully it's only on the East side of the Basin and Atachafalaya River. So far so good. Will keep you posted.

I fished the area this morning that I caught 4 bass in Monday morning. Water conditions had definately deteriorated and did not get a bite in 1 1/2 hours before getting chased out by a thunderstorm. Should have launched out of Kerns instead.

Stopped at Jake's launch this morning to put my kayak in. Caught 4 nice bass off the bank before putting my yak in the water. Caught a few more within sight of my truck. Caught and released 12 but nothing over 14"
