Default Fixed mount vhf radio?

What kind do you guys have and is it something nessasery to have on a boat beside a cell phone. Are maybe a handheld vhf. Might invest in one. mostly inshore fishing for me

I have 2 icoms. But I venture offshore often. Wouldn't be a bad idea to get a handheld just incase. You never know.

I usd both. I have a lowrance in my boat and a handheld in my "oh ****" bag that is water proof and floats

I would get one installed in the new boat for sure. Only a couple of extra bucks and some piece of mind

There's a radio that works with your gps to send your coordinates to the coast gaurd if you hit the may day button.

I've got a waterproof hand held, but like Bob said a few extra bucks on a new rig wouldn't hurt. The also have those SPOT gps that require a yearly subscription. I just don't know much about them.

Ill prob get a hand held, Instead of a fixed mount. Were im mounting my gps, a fix radio will be in the way.

I also have a waterproof handheld. I would carry it along with my waterproof, floating handheld GPS in the ocrap bag when we went offshore
