Default Bowfishing 5/15/11

Went bowfishing with Bow deadly charters last night. Great guys and had a great time. Ended the night with 15 reds, 1 drum, 6 sheephead. Also shot a few gar. Should of had double our limit but it was our first time and we missed a BUNCH.

Been many of times. Use to deckhand on a buddys boat years ago, and still do from time to time, but for some odd reason rarely do you see undersized Reds or Drum at night! Very strange, but if Ive been 100 times or more, and never has an undersized fish been taken in my presence. I have seen rat Reds before maybe 1 or 2 every 3 trips. Thats just my Exp. with it. When we were setting a group of guys/girls or children up for a nights shoot we would emphasize not even to draw back on a red or drum that looked too small, and for those who had never been or had a hard time distinguishing legal from not legal, thats when the Capt. or DH stepped in to reassure if it was a shooter or not. A great guide service will stay on top of his clients making sure they have a great time, but also making sure they do not make mistakes. Although @#$% does happen? Great pics by the way!

Nothing against Bowdeadly charters, he runs one of the best bowfishing services in lower Plaquimines but he does not alow alcohol on his vessel. I Know many of guys take bowfishing trips for their batchelor parties, or enjoy the idea of being chartered around, and like a few cold ones. There are a handfull of other great captains also out of Port Sulfur who will alow it in moderation if it is desired. If not Bow deadly has a great operation out of lake Hermitage!
