Default Firewood ???

Got my hands on some fresh split firewood yesterday. I say "fresh" b/c it's so green/wet it is smelling up my entire carport. How long does it usually take to dry and will putting a small shop fan blowing on it help? I'd say it will be about 3 weeks before I'm ready to start using it. TIA

If you are going to be using it in 3 weeks you will have a hard time keeping it going.....I'm not sure about the fan helping but I would say a good 3 to 4 months for it to get right for easy burning.

You should have bought that firewood last year, it will burn good when you get a bed of coals in fireplace, what you have now is something that won't stay lit or burn at all without a hot fire.

It's for an outside fire ring, not a inside fire place and I figured I was too late gosh darn it. Merci, looks like I'll have to start each time with a bag of charcoal.

You can get it to burn, but, like somebody else said, it might not stay burning and it's not gonna burn hot.

When i've gotten wood on the green side, i split it into smaller pieces and get the fire going. Then start adding bigger chunks after it gets blazing.
Freetos are a very good fire starter!!

Neighbor sells firewood for some extra money and he does pretty good with it. Usually we'll go cut trees down, let the stump sit in direct sun, split it then leave it all in sun for 3-5 weeks.

Just put a handfull or two on the ground or where ever you're lighting a fire. Like someone said, the oil in the chip helps it light. The regular size work the best, plust they burn hot and for a while. I've used it many times camping at Indian Creek and in the back yard in Lafayette!!
