Default Rigs Offshore

What's the situation with the rigs & platforms out of freshwater city all the way to Cameron? Can we fish them or they in the closed areas?

if they are closer than three miles you can...also the closure stops just to the west of Cameron check http://www.wlf.louisiana.gov/oilspill/map/ for an interactive map...also depends on how far out you are talking

The federal closure is still in effect and I do not see the feds opening them up soon. It's almost as if they forgot it's closed. Nobody I have talked to has seen any oil on the west end. They did not close the beaches in Galveston where some tar balls showed up. Trying to keep the cajun man down.

You still on your off days? I have a few personal days I can take if there is a good day during the week. If I did not have company this weekend, I would have hit the beach today.

I read a couple weeks ago that the tarballs on Galveston were not from the Horizon incident.

The news here in Houston said they were from the spill when the tar balls were originally tested. Maybe they re-tested. Whatever the case may be, it seems like the federal closure is a little much. Bad timing for the rigs.

Man, these beach and rig reports are killing me. Next time it looks like it will be calm I will be there. I will call you and we can make some plans. Seas later in the week are looking pretty good, I just do not like when it calls for 1 foot with winds 10-15 mph. Kind of makes you wonder.

Pogy spotter planes saw oil Fri. off of Grand Chenier, it was gone by that evening.
They report it, but don't know how it disappeared, unless they sprayed it with
dispersant.
Pogy spotter planes saw oil off of Johnson Bayou again Monday. But it was gone
by today. So it is coming and going.
The one off of Grand Chenier was about 8 miles long, but narrow.

Hate to hear they are seeing oil off of Johnson Bayou and Grand Chenier. I hope they are not spraying it with dispersants.

Anybody know if they are going to open the federal waters to fishing this weekend. Heard they are seeing less and less oil.
