Default Spin Rod/Reels for Trip?

Guys,

My wife and I are going to Panama for our 30th anniverisary next spring. I am starting to assemble the little bit of tackle I need to take down with me. According to my buddy who has been there a ton the boats have great gear in heavier stuff but no so much for the lighter end. So he has recommended three setups, one of which I already have. Being a flyfisherman (yes I will be flyfishing on this trip) I don't have a real good handle on conventional stuff so am looking for some advice.

I am looking at picking up a 10-20# and 15-30# class outfits. Three piece (or even two piece) travel rods and spinning reels. Since we have a winter home down on the gulf I would like to buy something that will last a while and is something we can use down there. I have a bunch of redfish/trout gear already but never know when I may get an invite to go for other stuff.

So please throw out some ideas?

Thanks,

Steve
