Any suggestions on where to stay and tips on where to fish? Not asking for anyone's honey holes just some tips for a newbie to that area. |

Thanks guys!
Ill give Cajun Holiday a call tomorrow. Sand and Sun seems like they don't want you to keep a boat and/ trailer in the parking areas do to the small parking area. The cabins look nice though! |

Grand Isle beaches should be good if the water is decent and there isn't a 20 kt SE wind. If its blowing get behind the island and work the rocks in Caminada Bay or fish the broken marsh around Beauregard Island there should be fish all over the bay by then good luck.

I like to fish the beaches later in the summer. If you want specks fish the islands in the bay. Honestly, if you've never fished the area before hire a guide and tell him you want to learn he area. The Grand Isle area is HUGE and very intimidating for someone who has never fished there before. Good luck and have fun.

Early May is usually about the time that the surf turns on down there. I can recall catching trout in the surf one year the last weekend in April even. I think that these last few cold fronts have kept the surf temps down so the trout may not make a strong showing until a little later. I'd try the bays next to the major passes on the east and west ends of the island. Can't beat live shrimp or imitations. Don't rule out small topwaters that'll mimic a popping shrimp.

i got there once a year and fish the surf. i would try the right side of the game warden station, I always have good luck there. also fish elmers island look for birds hitting the water, there are normally fish under them. also fish at night under the lights, last year they really started biting around 4am till sun up then they really slacked off. those are some of my spots, good luck and hope you catch!
