Nope, or not that I have had success with. Reds backbone and rib cage is different than a trout.

Was cleaning trout one day, and guy said you clean a trout about every 5-7 seconds ( that was not trying)

Had Josh time me on 60 trout a few weeks back and it was right at 5mins 22seconds

I remember you said you used a hamilton beach knife. I use em also and just bought another and the trigger has to be pulled back a little and down. It is a pain to do. Are they all like that now? My older one was easy to pull.

Default just wondering

I wonder if anyone has compared the results of cleaning fish this way and the "traditional" way of filleting. I think I'll try a test next time I go/catch some specks. I will try to pick identically sized specks and clean them both ways and then weigh the resulting fillets on my wife's Weight Watcher's scale which is very accurate (and seldom used for its intended purpose, but that's another story )

Just seems like there would be more waste cleaning them according to the video, but perhaps I'm wrong.

You are not wrong. If you cut off the belly meat. But fighting that damn swim bladder isn't worth it to me.

You just lose a little meat outside the ribs.
If you bring in a limit, you don't lose much.
It's much faster and easier. No extra time
to cut off the ribs.

On 45 to 60 trout ...... NOT worth the time for a extra trout worth of meat

That swim bladder will screw you on every fillet. The only way to clean trout is just like the video shows. Heck I thought everyone cleaned em that way! It works on bass too!

If you are going to use a electric knife then hamiliton beach is the way to go. I personally like a traditional knife such as
Bubba Blade
Forchiner
Dexter Russel

This one time at spicers I cleaned 100 trout in 12 mins. They were all 8.5 lbs too all caught on the same sparkle beetle.

You averaged 4.56 to 7.1 seconds a fish, That's pretty good.
