Johnson Bayou, day 1
Got to the blind, behind the Stingray Plant, about 10 minutes before shooting time. Shooting time rolls around, no birds. Heard very little shooting. About 615 couple of teal buzz in. One don't make it out. Hear, SPLASH. Blue wing in the dekes. Holla at him, stand up, nothing. Just sits there. After about 5 minutes of trying to get him to jump up, he don't. But he does get between 2 dekes. Boom. 2 on the pond. 2 gray's come in, and fly off. I haven't fired a shot yet. There are 2 of us in the blind. Single comes in on my side. One shot, one bird. I am like, dang I am shooting good today. WRONG We shoot a box of shells each and knock down 13 birds. Lost one mottle duck. Should have been out of the blind about 7 with our limits. Ended up dropping the last bird at 750. Not a lot of birds, but enough to keep it interesting. |
