Best Trolling Motor Batteries
Just wanted some opinions from you guys which batteries you prefer. I've ran the blue top optima D34M for all my trolling motors last couple years but not happy with them. Running a min Kota 80lb but will be going to the 112lb so will starting over with three batteries
Some have told me to go to a VMAX MR127 battery but just wanted to get some ideas what you guys are running. I want maintenance free. Thanks in advance Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

we have a 112 ipilot, I ran the anchor feature nearly all day Saturday in pretty strong currents, and we had 75% battery life at the end of the day. Interstate batteries. This was on a nautic star 224xts

I'm not sure, it's the deep cycles for sure. I'd guess they are about 14" long, grey with green top. It's the real popular ones that I believe most of us are using.

Im on year 3 of my interstate batteries. They need to be changed tough.
New I could go 2 days no problem with my Ipilot. Now I am down to a day. Academy batteries would have been long gone by now. |

Yeah they are nearly maintenance free. You may want to open them up to add water once or twice a year, but you don't really have to. We hardly ever do unless we notice they aren't holding a charge like they normally do. |

I've had a lot of people suggest these new lithium batteries. Might be an option to consider. Wish I could give more info.

NAPA sells a marine cranking and a deep cycle battery.
I bought their cranking battery a little over 4 years ago, and 2 deep cycle batteries that will be 4 years old in Aug. All 3 seem to be going good and no sign of weakening. About twice a year I check the acid level, and add some water. When I get home from a trip, I hook up the charger until the next trip. I think I paid about $ 90 each. |

Napa batteries are a generic battery same as wal mart....My last job they were using napa batteries and paying ridiculus prices....There was a company 2 miles from napa that I went to and bought wholesale what napa paid....They just put whoever label you want...Napa batteries are the same as wal mart...You can go to a distributer of batteries and give them a made up company name and get a whole lot cheaper...

With a Walmart or Academy battery, the best I got was maybe 30 months. Average life about 24 months. This was with keeping a battery charger connected all the time same as I currently do. So...... why have I gotten almost 2x the life on the NAPA batteries. Only difference is I don't go fishing as often in the past. |

I'm running walmarts in my bass boat and they are still going good. I bought them march 2013. I can fish all day with them and I haven't noticed any lack of power at the end of the day and I'm not easy on the throttle |
