Went back pretty shallow way down some bayous to the SE off shark bayou and couldn't find a redfish to save my life. Live cocahoes, gulp swimming mullets, redfish magic spinners, nothing worked..
Is there something I'm missing?

Also, the rocks just outside of Quintana, just to your left when you're coming out: has anyone fished those? The water was real salty and there was bait popping all around. Looks real fishy.
Any feedback?

The area with The rocks just outside the quintana to the left is known as the cove. Its a good area to fish if the waters right, you can catch just about anything there. You will start to see boats pile up around there around october looking for specks. Thanks for the report, was it rough?

Not rough at all, slight NW wind, water was salty, could see about 5" down into water.

Sounds like the fish were not there.

It can be tough fishing the Cypremort Point area right now. The salinity has dropped down to around 8.5 parts per thousand, down from 14 on July 28th. That being said, I believe it is salty enough; but the heat is almost intolerable. Once the cooler weather settles in, I believe the specks are going to be thick by the cove.

Make sense to me to fish the cove on an incoming tide but am I correct?
Seems to be some fishy submerged structure just outside of them also.
I may make a trip early am on incoming tide

I was thinking an outgoing tide because the marsh drains there by the rocks at the Cove and the specks, reds and flounder are there waiting to ambush the bait fish and shrimp that move out into the bay with it. As long as the water's moving though, it should be good. I know in the fall when the weather cools down you can rack up.

Where do you get your salinity information?

Fishing the day of a front is usually a losing proposition. Two fronts rolled through yesterday. It challenging enough to catch fish out there under ideal conditions so don't be perplexed that you had a bad day. With that being said, I have never caught very many redfish around the point. The marsh's on the West side of the bay seem to hold more in my opinion. The water is no where as pretty but there is a lot more food for them over there. Just look at how many more crab traps you see on that side of the bay. This time of year you can generally find fishable water in Fearman Lake and the Little Bay. Just find a cut on a falling tide and you should find some redfish. Just make sure you don't go exploring out there on a day with a two foot tidal ranged and a 10 MPH North wind.
