7 foot Falcon Coastal Series / Medium Popper. Titanium line guides (corrosive resistant) has a medium/slow action with a lot of backbone. Perfect for jigging for trout or throwing a poppin cork. Sell for around $100 and they stand behind their warranty......not to mention made in USA !!!!

I have a custom rod that costs serious money with Phenix blank, is it phenix or penix? anyway it was an extra $100 for that blank. broke the first one. sent it back and the guy made me another one. broke that weekend before last on about a 5LB red. messaged him about it and all he said was congrats your the first to break 2.

Custom rods are overrated in my opinion....having you name on it with sparkles glitter and shat on it doesn't fill up your ice chest. True story....I went with a buddy of mine who is a very avid trout fisherman and he brought his buddy who I had never met before. Dude was rollin straight Berkley Cherrywoods. We caught a ton of fish that day and he kept pace with my friend and I who use higher end rods. I know that quality of graphite, number of guides, etc.... dictate sensitivity but it isn't necessary to catch fish. Spend that extra money on gas!

I fished with my buddies G-Loomis with a Chronarch and couldn't tell the difference from my Mettle Express with a pole I got as a door prize from the Oilmans Rodeo.

I prefer Shimano. It is nice to be able to walk into the store with a broken rod and exchange it for a new one with no questions asked.

To each his own....I don't buy custom to get a pretty rod with glitter. I like them cause I can choose the blank, reel seat, guides, ect. Not to mention it is pretty cool to build your own rod. So far I built 2 spinning rods bout to do the first baitcaster. You can build a quality rod for less than you can get it off the shelve and it's junk from china.

Tried quite a few; broke three already this year. Two salty carrots and a falcon. Gonna test out a h2o express this weekend and see if that holds up. K like the carrots; they're lite and handled some pretty hefty reds. Carrot got hung up in the cleat of my boat, neither got broke by fish.

Allstar shrimptail special all the way for me. I think they quit making them. 20 years ago they were all the rage on BL. Used to catch them on sale for $30. I still have two new ones in my shop. You could not buy them from me for $200 a piece. It's what I'm used to and I love em!! Best flounder rod on the planet!!!

10% of the fishermen catch 90% of the fish

I have 2 of those old all stars....they were great rods when they were built in houston. Now they are owned by pure fishing and made in china.

True!

I've built my own rods for about 15 years. Had plenty of decent store bought rods but hated going back to get another to find out something had been changed.

Yeah I like rods a certain way and most store rods don't cut it. I just broke a falcon lowrider less than 4 months old. Broke 6" down from the tip casting a crankbait didn't hit anything. Prolly got banged around on the display rack before I got it.
