Default Beginners offshore rod

I would like to get a offshore set up spinning reel preferred. I don't fish deep water but would like to have a least 1 rod if I do.
Whats a decent set up to buy? I was looking Penn reel 4000 I think paired with a ugly stick?

good question, I'm curious as well. Are you looking for something that could handle cobia, snapper, and the like? That's what I'd like to get.

I like jigging rods. I currently have a 6'6" shimano trevala H with a 12000 shimano baitrunner and a 6'6" quantum boca M with 8000 baitrunner.

I've caught blackfin and snapper with the trevala and snapper with the quantum

Just something decent enough to handle the next level fish so to say. Lol

I picked up 2 penn 850SS spinning reels in classifieds here, they are older models in great condition. I may change the drag washers on them later but I am happy with them.

Here is the link when I found them.

My fishing partner bought one of them from me and we plan on keeping them on board for Cobia and snapper when we make late summer runs.
