Default Attic Ventilation Question

When I purchased my home, the previous owner told me that he had two attic ventilation fans installed about a year before I bought it. I used to go up there every year before summer and check to see if they were still working. Well I forgot to check them before this summer started and decided to do it today and neither of them are working at all. Ive read some mixed opinions/reviews from people who claim that they are well worth the money and some say that they make no difference. It does seem like my a/c has been working a little harder this summer to keep up, but that could also be because it has been hot as hell!! My question is, do any of you have experience using these fans? And are they really worth they money?

If your fans are properly sized for the size of your house...... they should save you some $$$ on the A/C cost.

When electric fans or Turbines are installed...... you must have proper air vents around your house to allow good air flow coming into the attic.

Years ago, I stalled a fan on the house I lived in. I also had to add a bunch of vents under the eves. The fan would turn on about 10 AM and run until after the sun went down before it turned off.
