Default A few reports tied into one

August started off with a bang. Gaiennie Lumber crew came down from North Louisiana on Friday. Two stops and they caught their 100. The new Vortex Shad in Purple Haze and the avocado Matrix double rigged was the ticket. Still seeing plenty of females with eggs offshore so it looks like the spawn is a little late too. Not a bad thing but may delay the transition inside.

8/2 - We woke up to a storm to our west so we had to stay east. A slow bite initially but when we did find the specks we had them coming in every cast. Unfortunately within a few minutes the storm was on top of us and we had to run for it. Finished the day at 11 with a light rain while redfishing. Had 28 trout a red and a bass. Vortex Shad double rigged worked on the trout and 1/2oz gold spoon for the red and bass.

8/3 - B&B Erectors were in from Texas along with a couple of friends. On Friday they went speck fishing with Capt. Chris and Capt. Andre and had to run inside to catch reds. They liked the red fishing better so that's what we did. Capt. Josh helped me out and we had a solid catch of mainly reds with a handful of black drum thrown in. A great experience for the Texas crew from the fishing to staying at the Reel Inn and having Shawn P cook for them. Thanks Capt. Chris, Andre, and Josh for helping me out.

8/4 - I had another opportunity to film a show with Louisiana Outdoor Adventures TV with Kevin Ford. Always a good time fishing with Kevin. We decided to do something different and film a night trip under the lights. We got out there at sunset and the specks were in a feeding frenzy which took me off guard since normally you need to let the lights work. The frenzy didn't last too long but it gave us a nice start. We fished until 12:30 and filled the K2 with trout between 12-18 inches. The Vortex and Matrix Shad worked well but Kevin stole the show with his Softdine by Mirrolure. The fish were suspended and it seemed to work the right depth perfectly. The show should be on in a few weeks on the Sportsman Channel or Cox Sports.
