Should be able to chunk a dead shrimp on the bottom anywhere south of salt water barrier and catch reds

I can catch reds but I haven't figured out trout fishing yet. I'm used to fishing structure or banks like bass fishing so red fishing is a lot like that. Trout fishing is an entirely different thing to me. I haven't figured it out yet.

First, Make an educated guess as to what depth of water will yield highest probability of holding the largest concentration of fish based on recent weather patterns and tidal conditions (shallow 1-2, medium2-4, deep >4). Next divide the water column you decide to fish into thirds and try and once again decide where the highest concentration of fish will be holding. Choose a lure that allows you to thoroughly fish that zone (top water plug, jig, suspending). Last, watch for signs. This time of year bait is key. Mullet are the primary targets for trout on flats adjacent to deep water. |

Solid! He is pretty good if you catch him before he starts drinking, after that he just becomes an Internet bully |

In order to get an idea of how the bottom is structured, is a Hook and Line map a good representation of Big Lake and does it show those details?

when you combine half of an educated guess and 1/3 of an assumption you get results in cajun units.

Still struggling to find reds consistently at big lake area, but I just need some more practice. Taking any advice.
Navionics app ($10) definitely helpful for showing changes in structure I wouldn't have known were there. |
