Default Toledo 2016 pics / night report

Haven't posted anything in a while, but here are some fish I/we have caught from April-present.

I have been night fishing a good bit lately with not a lot of numbers, but usually at least one good fish per night.
#10.95 caught 6/24 night (tagged and released)
6/30 night one around #9 posssibly a double digit (no scale and would have died before getting it to official scales, was released) best 5 would have went 26-28 lbs.

Majority of fish have been shallow around the main lake on big (huge) plastics. Probably miss around half the bites you get. It can be hard to really let them chew on it for a few seconds before setting the hook. 3 inches of hook and 12 inches of worm can really cut your chances of sticking one.

Have caught a few on traps, spinner baits, and crankbaits.

The major/minor feeding times have been spot on. After or before bites are far and few.

Pre rig these before you go. Fished w/ a man on T bend over 20 years ago that used nothing but 11"- 13" worms rigged like this w/ 2 #4 weedless hooks . He used a thin piece of stainless wire to thread the line through the plastic worm. Tie 2 ' of 30lb braid to the eye of one hook and make it the rear hook , thread the line through the worm and out the head. you want to pull out a little more than what will let the worm lay flat. tie the second hook and l , insert second hook in the worm and when you have the correct length of line between the hooks the worm will lay flat. the braid is flexible enough to not mess up the action, You can leave a tag to tie to swivle if Carolina rigging or just tie main line to eye of front hook and pull eye back into worm if texas rigging, It takes a few tries but once you get it your hook rate goes way up
