Meet Miley. The newest member to the family.

She comes from a very long line of Ribbon Dogs and I hope she has what it takes to be one too.

Her Sire is out of Sher-mi Labradors Noah. Her Dam is out of Tiger. I have high hopes for her. And I sure do hope she will be a ribbon dog.

I actually bought her for my son and he named her. We picked on him about it but it suits her and it's easy. We told him we where going to register her as Miley "Wrecking Ball" Wells. LOL

This is our first Yellow Lab. I'm a bit nervous but her parents work well and she has a good pedigree. It's always interesting to see how a dog will turn out.

Beautiful pup!! I rarely get a response from this forum-guessing because I'm a bit new and from N.La. I get it, no problem. Back in the day I helped train dogs, helped with a few "big" names I guess. I'm looking at getting another dog(haven't had one in a few years) I understand what I assume you guys are calling ribbon dog,but "rock dog" is a new one for me,like I said, been out of the loop in a lotta ways for a few years but a quick explaination would be much appreciated..
Thanks in advance guys!

People throw rocks, shell hulls stuffed with mud, or any other heavy thing they can find, in the direction of the fallen bird to give the dog an idea of where it's at. Rock dogs aren't trained on signals other than where you throw the rock. Ex baseball players have far better return rates on downed birds if they have a rock dog!

Hide all your shoes and expensive sunglasses for the next year. Mine ate a pair of my GF'S BCBG stilettos and a pair of 780 lens costas in her first two weeks at the house. They chew everything! Nice looking dog.

Ahhhh, ok, got it.. then I have to admit my first dog-20 some yrs ago- was a damn good rock dog! just started reading an earlier post about rock versus ribbon, saw some interesting concepts about attrition(sp?) vs force. looking into new concepts.
Many thanks for the help Goooh!

My wife is all over her LOL. Miley has become my wifes full time job since she came to our house so there is no lack of supervision I promise. She will be going to Michigan with John Wilson of Wax Lake Retrivers in June to start her training. He goes there during to summer for the cooler temps. It's easier on the dogs over our Louisiana heat. They get to train harder.
