Default PS3 Question

I was loaned a ps3 that was just recently un-hooked from its origin then brought immediately to my house and hooked up and I cant get picture.

details of problem:
I am hooking up to a basic non-HD TV. I tried hooking it up using the 5 part RCA cable(blue, green, red, white, red) and never got picture or sound. I swapped cables to the basic rca cable(red, white, yellow) and still no picture or sound.

Does anyone got any information? Do I need to hook it back up to my bro-in-laws tv(uses hdmi) and go in and change a setting?

Note: this is not a PS3 vs. xbox thread

When you turn it on, let it come all the way on and then hold the power button down til it beeps. Should turn off when you do that, just turn back on and should be good to go.

He had it set to hdmi cables when at his house. I was using rca so it did not register. I turned it off via holding down the button. When I turned it back on, I continued to hold down the button for a while. This did a hard reset of the settings and it popped right up.

Let the MV3 begin!

Ok. Been a while since I had to do it. Forgot about holding once turned on.
