Default Fourchon 23-6-13

Made a trip this afternoon with my wife and my son Hunter. We got on birds right away out of Halvoline bayou. Fish after fish about half keepers and half throw backs. Stopped around 50 because we had a few hours left. Ran out to he Fornation islands like our original plan and first throw with a badonk a donk I hooked into a big speck. It weighed 6.5# on my boga. That was a blast on a top water. I kept on throwing a top water for a while longer with no more takers. My wife and son where throwing vudu shrimp and tearing up the flounders. I decided to try on a vudu and hooked into another speck that I think was bigger than the other one. My wife was trying to net it for me and the fish got off right at he boat! I was freaking sick! Ended the day with 70 specks and 10 flounder.

I would love to have boated that big speck. I bet it would have been a star contender for a little while at least. Lol it's always the one that got away! If it hadnt been so late I would have weighed the big one I got in just to see where it would have gone. I'm Just now finishing cleaning up from the trip. Heading to Gulf Shore in the morning. Gonna be a long day tomorrow.

Alpha I'll be back Wednesday thru Saturday. Maybe we can go Wednesday or Thursday? Leaving on Sunday for Yellowstone.

All fish last night where caught on artificials. Vudu Shrimp, Chartruse tandem rigs and top water. The VUDUs are bad ***. Did not have to replace any due to fish tearing them up and they look like real shrimp in the water. A great bait.

Nice trip... Were you tight lining the vudu or under a cork?

We tried to tight line but couldn't get enough distance. Fished under a cork and it worked well.

I bought the VUDU gold. It was all I could get at the time. The hooks are the weak point. It will be a much better bait with the new hooks.
