Default Fishing plastics at deepwater platforms

How do you guys fish your plastics at the platforms in the 20+ range with current. We fished today and couldn't get jig and plastic nowhere near the bottom. We ended up carolina rigging some plastic to get them down and managed some white trout.

3/8 or 1/2 oz or split shot ahead of bait. Or sometimes split shot ahead of 1/2 oz depending on tides.
