CCW for Him & Her
I suggested to her that we both purchase a gun suitable for our needs and we could take the CCW class together so she could get some experience with her new weapon from a qualified person. Leaning towards the S&W Bodyguard or Ruger LCR in .38 for my wife Leaning towards a Sig P238 .380 or a S&W Shield 9mm for myself. My needs are something lightweight and reliable for CC... hers are something that she feels comfortable carrying and using if the need arises. Opening it up to you guys for your suggestions on what we should get... and Best place to go around Lake Charles? Gator Guns? |

My wife has the SW Bodygaurd 380, if shes interested in a semi-auto. It is an amazing little gun. I'm always trying to steal it from her! Hands down better than an LCP. Already comes with a laser on it (have to pay extra for LCP) for when she first starts learning to aim, she can use it as a reference point. My wife used this method and now when she picks up and points, it's on target. It also has a thumb saftey, which was a must for my wife.
I carry the MP9 and love it. My next one will be a Shield to conceal easier. I end up carrying my 380 more because it's easier. Also, my dad carries the Ruger LC9 and that's also a nice concealed carry 9. Best advice is to get her in as many gun shops and handle everythingto see what feels best for her. If there is a range that rents them out, let her shoot them as well. If your near Lafayette, she is more than welcome to shoot my wifes before you spend the money. |

Good choices!
I have the Sig P238 and the wife has the SW 380 Bodyguard. I've carried all types of hand guns over the years and the best advice I could give you is buy something that is comfortable to carry. The bigger the gun the harder it is to conceal carry and the heavier it feels at the end of a day. Good Luck to you guys. |

Bought my wife a 5 shot, double action Taurus for Christmas. Shot it yesterday and, it was dang nice. She had too much trouble racking my Beretta due to carpel tunnel surgeries and it would jam about every other shot so, revolver was the answer for us. I know everybody talks about knockdown power and all but, a few rounds of .38 with HydraShocks and, most likely, it will get done what needs to be done.

I'd like to find the S&W Shield myself but it seems finding Sasquatch is an easier task.

There's a gun show this weekend in Lafayette. The wife has her eye on a ruger sr40c. We hope to find one at the 425 to 450 range which was what they were going for at the Lake Charles gun show last month. We should have snatched it up then but we wanted to shop around, big mistake we couldn't find one close to that price. I'm not recommending the 40 cal for your wife thats just what my wife felt comfortable with but at a show you can handle a lot of different models in one place.

I have been looking at the Ruger sr9 for my concealed carry. Seems to be a good size.
Also the new springfield .45 xds is pretty nice and compact. |

I gave my wife my pf9 just to have an excuse to get the XDS. Both are great guns for the money.
