Default Went to the Rock

Took the family and went late trying to beat the heat and hoping the crowd left. Got there at 4:30 and had 8 boats at the cement weir. Went to the mudhole and caught a few crabs as it was slow and a few shrimp.

Went to another weir past the Penzoil plant and my son caught 2 nice 17"reds. No crabs or shrimp.

Went to the big cement weir and finished our limit of nice shrimp in about 15 minutes. The key was when the net hit the water to pull it up. Nothing but shrimp. If I let it sink, I had mostly shad and croaker.

Great day on the water but the horse flies were really really bad like a previous post stated.

Mostly medium to large. Great bait size.

Fried some up tonight with the reds we caught.

The only thing you have to do is stay in the middle of the canal. It looks deep next to the bank and it is 4" deep. Pretty straight forward.

we were out there Saturday morning. Lots of boats at cement weir, so went down to Mudhole. Ended up catching 7+ dozen very nice crabs and about 3 lbs shrimp. Packed up and went to cement weir, only 5 boats there around noon. Finished off limit of shrimp in about 15 minutes. Went to LSU weir to try for some reds but no luck.
