Don't let the water color dictate where you fish (Unless it's freshwater inflow). but if its just dirty due to wind, then locate the sign of fish (bait, birds, slicks) ect. and get to it with a darker lure or louder lure. I've caught limits out of some of the worst colored water that would surprise anybody. In Baffin one time I caught fish in a 40mph blow...the fish were on a color change alright...it went from dark dirty brown to black...LOL.. it was not pretty but the fish still new how to eat.
With the freshwater inflow, the fish will push closer to passes, need about 15 MSU on salinity and you'll be fine...reds and flounder will handle much lower. Surf can be good as well although this continued wind has been trouble for that. t |
