Default Pine island

Anyone hunt here? Around Roanoke? Going check a blind out tomorrow just kinda wondering how the big duck action is. It's a rice field so I know there's gonna be teal. Let me know yalls opinion please... Tia

I had a blind in pine island on the corner of meche and bryan rd and the hunting was great. Hal mcmillan still hunts out there and does great for teal season and really good on big ducks/specks. I've only hunted teal in the roanoke area and slaughtered them.

I have heard good and bad things about that area. Like any other lease, some blinds are better than others. However, teal season in that area is always good. Hell these days, be happy if you can find a decent blind. I have been hunting the South Kaplan for about 10 years, some years are better than others but I am just glad I have a spot to duck hunt.

Most rice field blinds are at least 5K at the very least.....The pine island area is 6 - 7K.....

Pine isl is north of welsh, if it's around Roanoke the flyway is different. RF blinds are hit or miss and mainly miss but you should shoot a load of teal if you can hunt 16 days with as many guns as you can get.

Our group has 4 blinds in pine island. We had three last year and we killed around 1300 combined for teal and big duck season. We are really at the northern most part of the flyway for pine island. Dont get me wrong it wasnt esay killing that many last year. we are constanly brushing and moving decoy to kill them that good. Do you know about where the blind is and i can tell you if its worth it. I have been hunting that area for 10 years now.

I hunt nearby and birds (both ducks and geese) seem to work from south to north of I-10 as they eat out the feilds to the south toward the refuge (Thornwell, Klondike, Hayes). The hunting north of I-10 can be better during the 2nd split for this reason. Lots of teal and spoons always. 5g's is the going rate, maybe more w/camp and teal season

I work in Pine Island and the hunting is very good in the area, just depends on the farm you are hunting. Do you have the farmers name? I may know him...
