Default Opinions? Best launch on Big Lake?

I launched out of Hebert's last week..my goodness, it's not what I remembered it to be. Lots of holes in the launching area, even though the launch is still a very good launch. We won't even talk about the bathrooms !!!
So, let's not consider distance from home..let's just talk about which launch(es) we prefer..condition of launch/availability of bait/parking, etc.

I don't have a favorite, yet..after 5-6 years, it seems that everything changes with time.

Calc Point nicest fa sho. Had to drop a deuce other day at Hebert's and went in bathroom. Almost puked. With bridge out, it's easier for me to get to Calc Point anyway.

What's the deal with Cocahoe's at Hebers Launch? Are they closed up for good? That place looks like a run down ghost town the last time I went out there a couple weeks ago.

It has been shut down for a year or so now, power and water is not working so that is why i'm sure the bathroom is so bad, I heard from a reliable source this past weekend that there is someone looking into opening it back up this summer, I hope so, I live out there and myself and the others out there would like someone to open it to keep it up, it has been a eyesore for sometime now, local residents have been cutting the grass and picking up what they can but it's hard to keep up, folks that use the launch just throw their trash on the ground among other things.

Calcasieu Point sure is nice, only thing they are missing is............beer!

Launched at Hebert's last year and that is a horrible ramp, but hey not many choices. Did go up in the bar up there though and this couldn't have been past about August or September I don't think, is that Cocahoes? Saw some familiar faces in pics on the wall

I have paid $5 to launch at a dirt ramp before, so its all about location, not quality of the ramp I guess

Calc Point is about as nice a boat launch as I've seen anywhere.

Yeh I launch there sometimes in the summertime when the fish are at jetties, or beach. Or hitting short rigs. They have a brand new boat launch down there and not alot of people usually. Used to be able to launch across the channel by the ferry but not anymore.

calc point by far the nicest, just like the location on the lake of hebert's better. But when I plan on buying live shrimp I always go to calc point, very freindly people that work there and they are not stingy on their shrimp they always give you a lil extra!!

Calcasieu Point is nice but it gets really crowded at times.
Would be nice to have more boat slips with walkways between them so you don't have to climb in by the bow and risk tripping over the trolling motor. I'm not complaining just suggesting improvements. I would like to see a Cameron parrish public boat launch on the East side. The one in Hackberry is nice but a long way from Lake Charles. I suggested to the Cameron Police jury to buy Crab Lady and improve it - no takers. It would be expensive. That might be a good site for dredge fill - Hmm! dedge pipe stretched across the lake, fill in all that marsh and some of the few remaining marsh drains on the east side - nevermind. Let's police ourselves and keep Hebert's launch clean and open.

Heberts is in about as perfect a spot as a ramp can be on the East side.
But everyone is correct. Parking and ramp sucks.

Cal Point the Nicest....

Word is the Parking lot and ramp is about to go under construction this month to repair the holes ... They will start on the south side and strip it down in front of the stalls then do the other side next..... And always have one side open to launch

I've launched from the Cameron launch (East side, just North of the pier), but usually only launch from there if I'm fishing the jetties or the very South end of Big Lake. It's a much longer drive, since I usually stay in Lake Charles and launch at Calc Point.
