Default Perch Jerking Spot???

I live in the Lake Charles area, and I am a transplant here. I do not know a lot of people or places to fish. I want to bring my 3 year olds fishing for perch to get them excited about fishing. I am looking for a safe place to just catch and release perch with the kiddo's. Any Ideas???

Drive to Oberlin then head west on Hwy 26 and fish the Calcasieu river. It's a shallow creek with white sandy beaches and deeper holes. Wade down or up stream and have fun. Fish, swim, & play is another option. Those kentucky bass will tear up a watermellon fluke too!
