Default Opening weekend in Thornwell 2011

Came really close to limits both days. Should have limited Sunday, but some bad shooting took place at one end of the blind. Hunted this morning and killed one woody. Nothing flying in the fog and no wind. Bring on the weather. I was really excited about the number of mallards I saw this weekend. It was trully therapeutic to get to hunt ducks again! My birds worked relatively good. The Grays I had sat chest out over my decs at 20 yards. Good times with Family and Frends! I hope everyone had a good one.

1 pic is from Saturday and the other Pic is of all ducks both days.

I use 4 sometimes with remotes though. If they act funny I turn them off. We don't hold alot of ducks. I mostly pull down high ducks flying the bayou so the robos help with getting there attention. I got a pull string as well and mallard machine. It looks like a frickin circus, but they sure loved it this weekend.

We have a small farm off Mouton Rd between Thornwell and Roanoke off 382. The hunting has slowed there though. Been hunting off Lacassine Bayou now.

We don't have water in our fields yet cause we are waiting on the farmer to laser level. The farm east of us is loaded but my speck blind is not in flyway yet. Where are u? You doing good on ducks and specks?

Saw a bunch of boats but think most were headed to the refuge.

I'm on Lyons Rd. little north of 380. Been doing pretty good on ducks but like you said, there isnt much water in the area. Specks are around but have been real skiddish. We have been managing a few but no limits of specks yet. Hopefully they will calm down soon. Dont think the super sky buster is to the north of us anymore so things should calm down soon.
