Okay, I'm do not mean this as an argument. but according to saltwater tides.com for calc pass here is the tide chart.

Tides for Calcasieu Pass, Lighthouse wharf starting with September 24, 2013.

Day High Tide Height Sunrise Moon Time % Moon
/Low Time Feet Sunset Visible

Tu 24 Low 12:49 AM 2.1 7:03 AM Set 11:56 AM 79
24 High 3:50 AM 2.3 7:07 PM Rise 10:48 PM
24 Low 12:58 PM 0.6
24 High 8:50 PM 2.4

W 25 Low 1:53 PM 0.6 7:04 AM Set 12:47 PM 71
25 High 10:30 PM 2.4 7:06 PM Rise 11:35 PM

Th 26 Low 2:56 PM 0.7 7:04 AM Set 1:35 PM 62
26 High 11:53 PM 2.4 7:05 PM

F 27 Low 4:04 PM 0.7 7:05 AM Rise 12:25 AM 52
27 7:04 PM Set 2:19 PM

Seems to me that according to this chart that the tides should have been just about perfect for a heavy fall pulling water out of the marsh this morning. As high tide of 2.3ft occurred at 3.50am.... and low tide is a 0.6 at 12:58.

I am asking because it seems like i always get myself confused with when the tides are going to be moving good. I know that big lake itself and places in the rock are going to have a delay from what is posted for calc pass... but is it that much?

Why do i need to add 6 hours? because of the delay in the water moving from the pass to the actual lake?

Most of my money is spent on fishing, fishing tackle, & boats... The rest is wasted.

Shrimp were huge.

Caught some reds and flounder behind the weirs in the marsh. Only caught one slot reds others were big nasty's. Guys fishing at the signs were hammering the reds.

Me and Josh went this morning. Water at Spicers was almost to the top of the dock. About a 2' difference between lake and marsh. Water was pouring into marsh. Threw net for about 2 hours for 6 lbs maybe. Headed home about 1030 and tide was screaming out in lake. Still coming in at Grand.

well looking at this i would say that the tide data i posted is about right then... high tide did occur sometime between midnight and 6am so the 3:50am was in the right area. and therefore tide should continue falling till sometime around 1-3pm

with the delay of the distance to the marsh i think i am starting to get it a bit more.

When we left Spicers about 615, tide was rolling in. Got to supercut and tide was dead.

Where is bayou d inde weir? I've heard that place mentioned a few times. Is it by the 210 bridge, if you are coming from the casino after the bridge on the right?

As mentioned before crabs were on the small side. Didn't start catching shrimp until about 11 and most throws only yielded 2-3 per throw, if any. They were 16-20s though. Threw from 9 to 530 to get a limit of shrimp. Redfish action was excellent, but couldn't catch one under 27 inches.
