Down On The DU!
It was a great looking weekend to fish and the fish were biting! We had a fun bunch of guys come in to fish with us as their duck hunting plans were scratched due to high water. The crew was getting together to duck hunt near Ruston,La. but their blinds were 3 ft under water. Capt Josh Ellender and I took the crew out for 2 afternoon fishing trips to take advantage of a better bite and less boats on the water to contend with. The mornings were very slow and the reds were eating up big time after the sun warmed things up a bit. We left the dock both days around 2 pm and it was the right call as we crushed the reds catching hundreds of fish! The guys had reds on their lines 2 and 3 at a time! The guys caught their limits and were a blast to fish with both days. I fished with Patrick Reesby,Mark Huffy,Glen Calhoun and Stuart Simoneaud while Capt Josh fished with Matt Huffy,John O'Neil and Joe Duson. The reds were in a broad range of sizes with fish from 16-27 inches. We only caught a few trout both days but we really didn't fish for them. We brought in over 225 pounds of redfish and the crew won't forget this trip anytime soon. Good luck fishing.
