Jared, man that happens more than people think. You can't keep an eye on them 100% of the time and it is never a good subject. Usually if they don't bring there own equipment they are going to be spoons. If you talk to the camp that booked you and let them handle it as a 3rd party it sometimes helps but no guaranties. Most camp owners will try to help you out on something like that to avoid a conflict on the boat. I feel your pain! If you ignore it you fished that day for free.

Breakage i wouldn't charge for, But as a client if I let one go overboard I should pay for it. I would pay a deposit on R&R as long as it was just for loss and not breakage.

start carrying some cheap poles and a shimano citica or a ugly stik combo a little heavy but durable and cheap. leave your $400 combos at home and when someone who doesn't appreciate what you have loses something it won't cost you or them a headache or a bad rep!

Seen a couple guides cut a pool noodle and put it on the rods near the reel. But the one that I did lose, I paid out 300$ 2 days later for a new rod and reel. Only bad thing with the noodle idea is people try and take them off.

Idea! They make a inflatable lifejacket for your keys...put one on a rod. Water pressure I guess sets it off. Might have to try that this week.
