Default Father's Day report

Paul, Alden and I went to our camp, Fishful Thinking in Leeville Friday night. We visited some friends at Fourchon and then went to GI, well actually across from Elmer's Island and visited some more friends. everybody was having a good time and lamenting about the wind forecast. Saturday we slept in a bit and went out to try to find some fish. we spent a good deal of time trying to cast net bait. We caught a little bit of bait and hopped spot to spot trying to find some good water. We didn't have much luck at all and called it a day early.

we went to Leeville and bought some shrimp and craps to boil for lunch. Man it was good too! After taking a nap, we went to Moran's in Fourchon to see the boats that were there for the SKA event. After a little oohhing and ahhing we headed to our friends camp at EI. Lots of people were there and we stayed and ate and drank with them until about 10:30. It is always fun when somebody has a birthday OI (on island)

Sunday forecast was for more wind and rain. When I woke up they had both going on. So I went back to bed. getting up about 9 the rain had about stop and the wind was almost bearable. We loaded up and went out. Looked for bait all over and it was hiding well. Oh well, lets just go. stopped at Speck 1 in Raccourci. Alden caught a nice one right off the bat. and that was it. we started heading south stopping at points along the way. Picked up one or two here and there. And was constantly looking for bait. not much bait! Off to Calumet.

We fished a couple of points in the pass between Calumet and Cassatete. We picked up several nice ones. then we moved to the west end of the island. picked up 6 or 7 good ones. when they stopped biting we went back to a point where we had caught a couple and picked up 3 or 4 more. the wind seemed to be fading a little. I said boys, lets go to Brush Island. so off we went.

the seas were less than one in Timbalier so the 4.5 mile run was pleasant. We stopped at a little wisp of island that always has boats on it on Saturdays. Nobody there Sunday! So we ease up and we catch several chunks right off the bat. We stayed about 45 minutes and caught 10 or 12 good fish. We left and continued to BI.

The water was beautiful when we arrived. We had good action and threw back anything you had to measure. finished up the day there and headed back to the camp around 4:30.
We ended up with 48 beautiful trout. all but two were caught on Bomber Long A's which is our favorite bait to throw.

Soft rides and hard strikes,

Mark
