Default For all you smokers in the Laf. area!...

Take exit 97 on 10. Go north about two miles and look on the left for a red barn that is called "The Best." I stopped in there the other day under the advice of a friend and wow! They have everything you could imagine in there for grilling/smoking! I bought smoked boudin, beef jerky, etc, etc. That was all the pre-cooked stuff.

I bought a couple of de-boned, boudin stuffed, seasoned chickens that were out of this world on the smoker! They have stuffed pork chops, mushrooms, you name it!

Go check em out!

I drive all the way from B.R. to buy my andoullie at best stop.
one of my secrets for a great gumbo.
I'm to the point now w/ smoking that i want to do it all.
seasoning, Make all my own rubs , bbq sauces and marinades.
Trim all my own ribs and meats. Cure my own bacon and canadian bacon and soon i'll have a grinder and stuffer to make my own sausage.
This hobby can be highly addicting.

I went to Shawns Cajun meats yesterday in delcambre on hwy 14 and they don't have a very big selection on meats but man he got some good prices! I went to get me a steak to throw on the grill and he had some 1lb steaks in there for 4 bucks! I ended up getting some chicken wraped in bacon and some peppers stuffed with pork sausage and wrapped in bacon. Man you talk about jam up! It was $3.50 for a 6 pack of each already done up just throw em on the grill and a little sweet baby rays! They also had some French breads stuffed with crawfish, shrimp and crab meat, and brisquit for 5 bucks a piece! Trying one of them today with a stuffed pork chop!

That's it! Man, that place is great and, like Eman, I will be making the drive over there just to buy some of their products again!

I like to spice up my own meats.
I was hooked on Tri Tips for beef, but no one sells them in Lake Charles anymore.
No one even knows what they are.
I smoke chicken leg 1/4 a lot, and some pork ribs, pork butt's...
Nothing beats smoked pork in my opinion. My wife loves the chicken.

Yeah, I was kinda worried this thread was headed straight for the GillNet! That's why I was careful to make sure it made it to the Roux and not the Gen Discussion because it would have taken a whole different spin in a hurry!

I thought Laffy got somw fire from the other side of the border or west coast based on the title. I was about to make a 2 hour drive for nothing.
I like all the stuff from Poche's in the Bring. Love how their cracklins have chunks of fried meat on the. I may make that drive anyway!

Anytime we had a salesman coming to make a visit down in Johnson Bayou from Lafayette or BR we would tell him to stop at Best Stop or don't come

oh, yea. thats one thing I miss about being at LSUE. They have all kinds of great meat markets and stuff like that on the west side of the state. We don't have all that over here. It is quite depressing.
