Default Great Weekend!!

Saturday will be a day I won't forget!! As it was the opening day of duck season for the coastal zone and opening day of muzzle loader season for our property in Avoyelles parish.
Friday night I asked my 4yr if he wanted to make a duck hunt with me in the morning, his words were 'yes and I'm going to bed'!! Saturday morning around 4:45, I woke him up and we got dressed with no problem! Made the short trip to the blind with plenty of time to spare and got all the decoys placed and blind ready. As the sun started to break the horizon, we didn't see many ducks flying. It wasn't much longer before they started. Within the next 45 mins, my brother in law and I were able to knock down our 12 ducks, 8 BW teal and 4 GW teal. Once we picked up things, my little man had his chance with his BB gun to do a little shooting! All I can say is watch out decoys this year!! He made quick work of all the decoys and we called it a day.
Once we got home and cleaned all the ducks, it was time to think about making a trip to try and kill a deer. I asked my 10 yr old daughter if she was interested in making the hunt with me. Her first response was Can I kill one? I said sure. We loaded the truck with my 35 Wheelen and her youth .243 rifles. Once we took care of all the issues on the property the bears are given us (I hate bears) we settled in to the stand around 3:30. While walking up the stand, we jumped a little doe out the food plot. I thought we had missed our chance as we got there too late. About an hr and half later, out stepped a little yearling and a big doe. My little girl decided she wanted to shot the big doe, so we started the process of getting her gun out the window and her moved over to the other side of the stand without the deer hearing or seeing us! It took us about 10 mins to get the shot off as she was shaking so much and we couldn't get her breathing down!!! Once we were able to calm her nerves some and get the good broadside shot, she let it fly!! The bullet hit the mark and the doe fell in her tracks!

Thanks guys. I'm blessed that my Dad brought me up in the outdoors and it is a blessing now that I'm able to do the same with my kids.
