Default Sabine Reserve

Word is there are a bunch of game wardens patrolling Sabine Reserve busting people for running in the marsh and trespassing in the marsh surrounding the reserve. It seems the land owners called down the heat due to people in tower boats trespassing constantly over the past few weeks. I can only only assume its due to all the redfish tournaments lately. If your headed back there be sure and walk the line.

They must've robbed a liquor store to pay for the extra enforcement because budget cuts has been their sad song for a few years now.

^^^ from who Obama???

It's not the events holder responsibility at all...its 100% on the angler...

So if anyone sends a letter to a event holder, I'm sure it will get thrown away as fast as it is mailed m Actually it's stupid and the land owner or who ever is a flaming moron if he thinks any one running events had control over anglers boats

Kind of like the Democrats blaming guns for killing people

OK I got a dumb question. What is the law for fishing in the marsh? What is off limits? I thought as long as it was navigable then you could fish it. With the exception of man made canals that were labeled as posted.

Very simple Scooter, event can specify legally accessible waters on entry and disqualification for any angler who is caught Cheating. There will be helos in the air for the next tourney.

Have you ever fished one of these events are read th rules of one???

That make it very very very clear you are only allowed to fish public navigational waters

I dont think he was asking about Tournament Rules, he asked what the LAW was?

Ive come to the conclusion that the law is you can fish any "Navigable Waterway" except when the "Navigable Waterway" is on someones property with:

1. Lots of pull with LEO
2. Lots of money
3. Lots of oil on property (which would refer you back to points 1 and 2)

Just like the bass masters left east La. Years ago. Landowners running fisherman off the water, with shot guns and others calling the sheriffs office.

Why can't event organizers red line any private areas on their website for all participants to see and acknowledge by release? The old saying says; if you don't know who owns it, you are trespassing is usually correct. Tournament guys have great electronics and Do Know when they are on private property. Why is this so difficult for some to understand???????

Because Louisiana is different as far as navigable waters go. It is not tidal waters except for manmade as it is in other states

It's not difficult...its NOT the tournament responsibility to worry about where someone fishes as long as they follow the rules which states " all public water ways "

So if the land owners place a sign that should be enough for any angler to understand

If another angler sees a guy fishing in a no fishing zone or place off limits, all he had to do is take pictures and report the angler

Louisiana law was changed 10 or more years ago that posted signs are not needed, hence; if you don't have permission to be there, you are trespassing.
I really doubt that any large land owner really cares if a tournament decides not to come to Louisiana because of the land laws, I sure wouldn't if I were a Lawton,Stream, ect. Further more, the tournament in question is being held in Kemah which is located in Texas if I am not correct.
