How much rain did BL get and the effects?
Is it worth going in the next couple days barring good weather or will I be wasting my time and money? TIA. |

With the rain we're getting tonight, I wouldn't expect it to be any good. Of course, if I was off I'd be fishing with Bob and Marty. When you're like me and can't catch more than 3 fish without a guide, you learn to enjoy the fellowship of other like minded people.
It might be better waiting till the end of the week if you can. |

Going to be a mess a while. Big rains chased Bob and I off the water at 4p and it rained solid all night till 6am and it all is headed north so all the fresh water will fall back in to big lake. So unless your fishing with buds and dont mind the crappy fishing, its going to tough catching

Thanks for the replies guys. I've got a very flexible schedule right now and I'd rather not haul my boat from Lafayette to catch nothing.
Good luck and tight lines. |

I looked at the forecast earlier today with the same question in mind, which is what will the salinity and water quality look like later on this week. It should be pretty bad since we are supposed to get rain pretty much every day this week. The salinity of the lake is already low and was starting to recover from all of the previous rains but it looks like the reset button is being pushed again and the salinity levels should drop quite a bit. Its gonna take a while for the lake to recover. Sometimes its fun just to get out there and run around a do a little scouting but I wouldn't expect great things right now.

If this rain keeps up we'll be catching bass and white perch in Turners bay.

it's been a long wet winter and spring.
Just remember that a lot of fresh water will ride on top of the salt... so somewhere closer to the pass you'll still be able to find some saltier water below the fresh and they're be fish there. Deeper areas in the main bay will also continue to hold some salt was well... the upper end will definitely be fresh. Sometimes during these conditions it's just time to hit the jetties but we need the wind to lay for that. |

I think they're becoming endangered like the red snapper. At least they are when I fish.

I'm easy going dude. I live on Sabine so I'm always down with the get down. I fish out of a skiff with no trolling motor so you have to fish without yours too though. We fish with motor running. We will see just how good you are
