It can be distilled if you have the fuel permit.

It is not efficient to distill as a fuel for the masses.
It can be done in countries like Brazil, where the labor and fuel is cheaper.
They don't require clean burning diesel for their tractors like the US.
Their labor is 10X less than in the US.
It costs more to prep a field, plant, fertilize, cut, transport, store, distill, transport, sell... ect.
After all that, it is not as efficient as the products it is replacing, AND the biggest downfall, it has messed up more boat tanks, hoses and engines than anything else.

Leave the corn and sugar to food sources.

Let the oil companies drill, produce and refine the fuels.

Got a great friend in South Carolina that can teach you the fine art of setting up a "fuel" distillation unit .And i bet he can give you a good "recipe" for some grade a
ethanol.

Yes, with the proper permits its legal. Better have deep pockets for that. As stated, for fuel, its simply not worth it.

An Individual can with a permit produce up to 10,000 gallons a year.
However the cost of production will likely be more expensive than just buying it at the pump. But you can also heat your home with ethanol.
I have a fireplace that runs on ethanol, that I produce with rotten fruits and such.
The fermentation part, is the hardest part to deal with.
Just doing this to get, off the Grid a little.

Yes, it was cancelled not too long ago. They were looking at the grass roots plant in FL and from there several other larger plants thru the US. Company I work for was in a very good position to supply the mass transfer internals for the distillation towers.

Ray, I watched a short discussion on TV today about E-15. I wish I had seen the beginning of this segment.

The guy that was "for" the E-15 actually said that it was cheeper than gasoline to make. My understanding is that it cost more than twice as much to make Ethanol. This same guy said that all of "big" car manufactures said that their cars would run ok on E-15. He "side-stepted" questions about older cars [made before 2012] and if E-15 would cause problems.

Just as well throw away your older boats and cars, if they go with E-15.
BOAT-US did several tests with E-15 and some of the newer outboards will lose HP.
Most of the older boats will have $$$ issues.
I know a guy at the Point on V Bay that has new twin Yamaha 250's on an older boat.
He filled up with E-10 and had thousands of dollars in repairs. Older tanks and hoses were cleaned out and pushed crap into the engine. Clogging up every port from the inlet to the injectors.
It is a solvent. Will clean out everything.
If your boat is new, run E-10 and never run anything else, you might be o.k.
I do know that Honda's don't run as good on E-10. Most Merc's and Yamaha's have no issues.
BOAT-US is against Ethanol like the NRA is against Obama.
