Default Which 25?

A friend of had his 25 Johnson burn up in Lacassine today. Which 25 does he need to go with. He plans on using it mainly in the marsh and river.

I would try to find a 2 stroke mercury or tohatsu....nobody makes a 25 two stroke anymore. Four strokes are not the best in marsh conditions. Thermostat gets clogged easily if running in grass and/or mud. 2 stroke you can gut the thermostat and let it free flow.

I got a 2012 etec 25 and they are definitely sensitive to water pressure and running through mud mix but overall a great and reliable motor. Not 100% but thought the lower hp new tohatsu's are also 2 stroke? I'm also looking for a 25, may end up picking up an older 25 this week...fingers crossed.

New etecs are basically like a new car, computers onboard diagnostics etc nothing like an older 2 stroke where u get spark and fuel and set the carb and go.

These would be my choice. Get a 3 cylinder Yamaha if you want to hop it up, they have a lot of potential.
