Default colors

Have been doing good in the surf on kevin fords favorite . chicken on a chain.
Use 4" baits to cut down on the dink trout.
Live is the easiest but gets exspensive in the ****** trout.
The top water bite has been excilent in the surf very early and very late in the day.

I spoke with a buddy of mine the other day that went their during the weekend of the Tarpon Rodeo and he said the same thing....Nothing but small trout. You had one keeper 12.001" for every 20-30 caught.

Man we fished all over the island! The best places were the reefs north of the island. We didnt use any live bait might have helped dont know though.

We went for July 4th and if we didn't use live bait, we didn't catch anything.
When using live bait, we kept 1 fish in every 20 catches.
We fished the rocks in front of the state park, reefs behind G.I., reefs north of Grande Terre, 4 Bayou Pass then we hit some reefs farther up in the bay and 1 platform off the mouth of the ship channel. We also hit the small jetties on both sides of G.I. Those jetties are the only place we caught keeper trout.
We caught them between 4:30 and 5:00 am. After 5:00 am, the boats come out and swamp you passing and if you pull in a fish, no matter the size, they come in on you and throw thier lines all around your boat.
The only place we could find some peace and quiet, and catch fish, was way up in the bay around Hackberry Bay where we caught some reds and a couple flounder.
I will never go there again on a holiday weekend. Never...

My brother in law has a camp there at Tahiti East, but we have a fishing trip planned with friends on Big Lake and a party to go to the night of the 22nd. I stay busier on my days off than I do out here...

Trout were hitting anything on top of the surface this weekend. Like others said the trout were on the small side, I would say 75% of the fish caught were 11 - 11.5".

I also watched a guy catch 5 keeper trout in a row in the surf near camida pass with live shrimp, probably less than 10 minutes time.
