Default 6-21 oyster bayou report

Got the chance to take my son fishing and we had a blast. We left the Berwick landing at 4am. Stopped in oyster bayou and caught live croakers, cocahoes and shrimp then headed out to the local rigs in search of trout.
First stop and nothing was happening on plastics or live bait except catfish. After 20 mins I decided to turn and burn to another location. The second stop had birds working a few hunderd yards from the platform and we quickly started slinging trout into the boat on matrix had green hornet and tiger bait.
Every structure we tried to fish did not produce fish...All the fish we caught were under birds out in the open areas. Even caught a nice bull red on the matrix shad under the birds. We had to work through allot of throw back trout but it was a blast fishing with my son and catching trout steady all day. We caught over 150 trout easy and kept or limit of 50.

I forgot to mention that it was the first time using yellowmouth jig heads and all I can say is now I am hooked. Plastics hold firm and that red was caught on an 1/8th oz jig head and did not even bend. I even hooked myself a few times, lol

Yea I am glad I talked with you and then made an order. They are awesome jigs.
Looks like the bite might be coming back. It had went a little slow for a while right after yall stacked them up.

I hope they are still biting when I get home. If not offshore they will be along the coast and inside 4 League bay on the reefs. Then the reds are always around.

Yea I am hoping top find them in fourleague bay this year instead of having to make that ride out to last island area. Its been pretty mussy in there this past week from all the shrimping I guess. All the fish we caught were along the coast somewhat and not on any rigs or structures.
