Default NON LA 6/22 Trip to Matagorda

One of my clients invited me to fish at their camp in Matagorda today; we had pretty good day fishing and a great time. We fished reefs in East Matagorda and caught 26 keepers and at least 30 trout that would have been keepers in LA. Of course these guys gave me a hard time about all of the “baby trout” we catch in LA. We had a great guide with us and conditions were close to perfect with winds at about 5 knots. The bite died around 10:00 with the heat.
We had four fish over 23 inches, with the biggest at 27, we were able to release one alive. We tried to release the other three but due to the hook set or other reasons the fish were not going to make it so we had to keep them. We had another guide boat with us and they caught a 29 inch speck and around 20 keepers.

Nice . My mom lives in Victoria right around the corner just 30-40 minute drive from the beach. I remember many trips to beaches in that area as well as rockport catching nice specs and reds. Miss it sometimes but love louisiana.

Thanks guys, we had a great time. We caught fish all day, the only issue is the guides had us using live bait which isn't my favorite way to fish but it was still fun. Both of our guides caught a limit the day before.
